A teacher accused of having a series of sexual encounters with a 13-year-old seventh grade girl in a closet outside his classroom and in a rented house in Armada will be arraigned in a Macomb County court later this week.

Robert Yaek, 25, an eighth-grade science teacher in the Armada Area Schools, has resigned, The Detroit Free Press reports, citing a news release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. The alleged encounters occurred between February and May this year.

“Parents entrust their children to the care of teachers. We place our children’s lives in their hands every day. This man’s actions are an outrageous breach of that sacred trust. He must account for that breach under the law,” Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in the release.

Authorities say Yaek also sent sexually explicit photos of himself to the girl’s cell phone.

He will be arraigned in 42-1 District Court in Romeo on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which carry possible life sentences, and one count of distributing child sexually explicit matter to children.

Come on! Life in prison....give me a break. He simply will lose his tenure and will move on. The current generation of teachers accept school sex as simply an expanded opportunity of their teaching career.

more comments degrading all teachers = fewer quality students becoming teachers....who will teach our children then?

I don't know how they didn't get caught in the closet outside the classroom. apparently they were very quiet.

That's a pretty huge leap to state "The current generation of teachers accept school sex as simply an expanded opportunity..." There's a lot of very good, dedicated teachers you're tossing under the bus. At 25 he was obviously very new to the profession and certainly can't be considered as representative of teachers - or any profession, for that matter. Maybe schools need to start requiring psychological profiles be done before they hire a teacher...?

Dude is scum...not a normal 25 year old if he is preying on a 13 year old....send him to jail. And most, if not all teachers are good people. Stop labeling due to a few bad apples....examples of scum are in all walks of life.
