Teen Discovers Farmington Hills Home Break-In

Police say the thief or thieves fed the family dog cheese before leaving with a jar of coins.

Farmington Hills Police are investigating a Dec. 7 break-in on Lorikay, discovered by the homeowners' teen-aged son.

According to police, the teen had been with relatives while his parents were out to dinner that evening. When he returned home, he spotted a broken window and called his parents.

Police said it appeared the thief or thieves, who took a jar with $50 in coins, fed the family dog some cheese from the refrigerator, then used a knife from the kitchen to pry open a hope chest in the master bedroom.
