Thief Grabs Eyeglasses, Sunglasses from Farmington Hills Store

An employee of a Farmington Hills eyeglasses retailer at Middlebelt and W. 12 Mile Road contacted police Monday morning to report the theft of more than 170 pairs of glasses and sunglasses. 

According to the Farmington Hills Police report, the store was closed on Saturday afternoon, and the theft was discovered Monday morning. The employee told police that the front door was not unlocked; police found no signs of forced entry. 

Strong-arm robbery

• An Eastpointe man headed into a business in the 29000 block of W. 12 Mile Road Thursday afternoon was confronted by a man who took his iPhone. According to the report, the suspect asked whether the man would sell his phone, and when the man said he wouldn't, the suspect grabbed the phone and ran. The report indicated that the suspect dropped his own phone, which the Eastpointe man grabbed and turned into police. With the phone number and a photo of the suspect that was stored in the phone, police identified a 16-year-old male from Romulus as a suspect. 
• An 18-year-old Novi woman and a 19-year-old Livonia man called police Thursday to report that two men had attacked them and stolen a cell phone and video game console. According to the report, the couple met up at a gas station at the corner of Rockwell and Grand River, after the woman was dropped off there by friends. The report indicated that one of the men who dropped her off reached into the vehicle, punched the Livonia man and took his cell phone, while the other attempted to steal the woman's cell phone. The video game was taken from the vehicle's back seat. Police later recovered the stolen items; a 31-year-old Farmington Hills man, 35-year-old Southfield man and and 18-year-old Farmington Hills woman face charges in connection with the incident. 

Thefts from vehicles

• A resident in the 27000 block of Gateway Blvd. called police Saturday, after noticing that the license plate was stolen from her 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The report indicated the vehicle had been parked in the apartment complex lot. 
• A business on Hills Tech Drive contacted police after someone broke into a fleet vehicle and stole a GPS unit. According to the report, the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 8:15 a.m. on Sunday. 
• A business in the 24000 block of North Industrial Drive on Monday morning reported the theft of rims from 2004 and 2011 BMWs parked in the business lot. According to the report, all five surveillance cameras on the exterior of the building were broken off their mounts. 
• A resident in the 30000 block of Lamar contacted police Monday morning to report the theft of $10 cash, a label maker and GPS from a vehicle parked in the driveway. According to the report, the owner said the vehicle may have been left unlocked. 
• Late Monday afternoon, Suburban Audi on Grand River reported the theft of wheels and tires from a 2013 2-door Audi. According to the report, the items were valued at more than $3,900.
