Three Injured as Accident Closes Haggerty

Two Farmington Hills women and a Canton man were taken to Botsford Hospital.

A 20-year-old Canton man and two Farmington Hills women, ages 66 and 65, were injured Tuesday afternoon in an accident that closed a portion of Haggerty Road between 9 and 10 Mile Roads.

According to Cmdr. Brian DeGrande, the Canton man was traveling south on Haggerty at 10 Mile Road, when his vehicle crossed over the center line and struck the other vehicle head-on.

Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to remove the Canton man from his vehicle; he'd suffered a head injury and was semi-conscious at the scene, DeGrande said. The two women suffered "non-life threatening injuries," DeGrande said. All three were transported to ; their specific conditions are undisclosed.

DeGrande said the Canton man told police he does not remember the accident and does not know why he crossed the center line. "There is no indication alcohol was involved," DeGrande said.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m., and Haggerty was closed until 5:50 p.m. responding to the scene were assisted by Novi and Livonia Fire Departments.
