West Bloomfield Man Caught Cutting Security Tags at Ulta

A 52-year-old West Bloomfield man faces charges after an employee at Ulta in Hunter's Square shopping center spotted him cutting security tags off merchandise at around 1 p.m. on July 19.

According to the Farmington Hills Police report, officers found the man carrying a box cutter, and a store security video showed him cutting off the security devices. Two employees told police that the man, who they said was a regular customer, left behind damaged items before he was stopped outside the store. 

Marijuana possession charged

A 19-year-old Detroit man faces a charge of marijuana possession, after officers on patrol spotted a smoke-filled vehicle parked at Washington and Independence Drive around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the report, the man, who was a passenger in the car, tossed a marijuana cigarette out the window. Police found a small container of marijuana in his pocket. The report indicated that a check of the driver's background revealed an arrest warrant out of Big Rapids on a marijuana possession charge. 

Air conditioning unit stolen

Workers at the Foot Care Institute on Middlebelt contacted police Saturday morning, after finding an air conditioning unit was stolen from a concrete slab on the property. According to the report, the unit had been bolted to the slab. The building had lost power between Friday and Saturday, so spot lights at the rear of the building were not working. 

Attempted motorcycle theft

The owner of a motorcycle that was parked in the 23000 block of Halsted contacted police Monday after finding damage to the ignition. According to the report, the man had not used the motorcycle in a week. The ignition cylinder had a number of scratches, as though someone tried to pop it out using a screwdriver.
