Eight Apply for Farmington Council Seat

Six of those in the running for the seat vacated by Michael Wiggins are also on the November ballot.

Of the eight Farmington residents who have applied to fill , six are also on the November ballot.

At a Monday 6 p.m. study session, Farmington council members will review applications submitted by candidates Sean Murphy, Bill Galvin, Kristin Kuiken, Greg Sako, Greg Cowley and Jeff Taylor, along with residents Margaret Crane and Mark Maniewski.

If one of the candidates is appointed, his or her name will remain on the ballot. So what happens if an appointee is also elected?

The timing of the resignation, accepted Aug. 15, left officials a narrow window, Schultz said. Under the city's charter, they have until Oct. 15 to appoint a replacement, or the seat will remain open for more than a year.
