Farmington Area Voters Will See Changes in Ballots, Beginning August 7

A new state law removes a requirement that ballot instructions be printed on the ballot.

Voters in Farmington and Farmington Hills will see some changes in their Aug. 7 ballots, as a result of a new state law.

In May, Governor Snyder signed election-related legislation that eliminates the requirement to have instructions printed on the ballot.

As a result, those who vote by absent voter ballot will see instructions as a separate insert with the absent voter ballot for each election.

For those who vote at the polls, ballot instructions will be inserted into a plastic pouch that will be placed on the outside of the secrecy sleeve in which the ballot is provided to voters at the polls.

The ballot instructions are required by law and will have specific language related to each type of election.
