Farmington School Board Member Gurrola Takes Office

The newly elected official starts work Tuesday, filling a vacancy.

The newest Farmington School Board member took his oath of office during Tuesday's meeting at the in Farmington.

George Gurrola was sworn by Judge Marla Parker near the beginning of the board's 7:30 p.m. meeting.

Because he was elected to fill the last four years of a partial 6-year term, Gurrola immediately took the seat left open when appointee Tim Devine chose not to run for election. Devine was appointed in November, 2010 to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Gary Sharp.

Incumbents Karen Bolsen and Howard Wallach, who were re-elected Nov. 8 to 6-year terms, and Murray Kahn, who was elected to a 4-year term, will take their oaths of office at the board's Jan. 10, 2012 meeting.
