More Rain Predicted, Fewer Without Power

An intense line of thunderstorms Saturday initially left nearly 60,000 in southeast Michigan without power.

Fewer than 650 DTE Energy customers remained without power Sunday in Novi after a swift and intense line of thunderstorms blew through southeast Michigan on Saturday. About 500 customers remained without power in Farmington, and the same number was affected in Farmington Hills; in Northville, outages had been reduced to about 20, while Canton reported two and Plymouth Township reported one.

At the peak of the outages, about 60,000 DTE customers in southeast Michigan were in the dark; by early Sunday afternoon, the number was closer to 30,000. Saturday's storm carried winds in excess of 60 miles and hour, which blew down many trees.

The National Weather Service is predicting a continued chance of heavy rain today, with storms that may carry small hail and winds up to 35 miles an hour.
