'Soul' of the City Leaves Farmington Hills for New Post with Livonia Schools
Assistant city manager Dana Whinnery moves on after more than 26 years of service.
city manager Steve Brock is working on a plan to fill a big void left with the resignation of assistant city manager Dana Whinnery, but one thing seems certain:
"Someone might take your job, but they'll never take your place," Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Bates said after Whinnery announced his departure during Monday's city council meeting.
After more than 26 years, Whinnery will leave early next month to take a human resources post with Livonia Public Schools. Brock said he couldn't have asked for a better "right-hand man" and described Whinnery as the city's "soul" for the past 26 years.
