Survey Says: Farmington Poverty, Unemployment Rates Lower than Farmington Hills

Economic and demographic information published by the Census Bureau in the American Community Survey also shows Farmington has a younger median age than Farmington Hills.

Results of the most recent American Community Survey, released Thursday, show Farmington has slightly fewer unemployed residents and residents in poverty than in Farmington Hills, as well as a younger median age.

Those results and other demographic and economic information are part of the survey, which is conducted annually by the U.S. Census Bureau and provides current information about a community. The bureau intends for the results to guide policy decisions and funding allocations from state and local governments.

"By telling the story of our towns and neighborhoods, the American Community Survey helps planners locate schools and firehouses," said Thomas Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau’s acting director in a press release. "Thanks to the cooperation of the public, the Census Bureau produces reliable, quality statistical information for even small communities in the U.S. That’s why it’s so important for households that are selected to participate in the ACS to respond."
