Absentee ballots

Check out "" for the basics about casting your ballot without going to your polling place. You can submit an absent voter application to the city clerk until 2 p.m. this Saturday in either city. You can cast your absentee ballot at your city hall any time before the polls close on election day; it won't be accepted at polling places. Farmington Hills absentee voter applications are posted on-line, as are applications for Farmington absentee voters.

Polls open

7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voter identification

Be sure to bring some form of picture identification along when you go to vote. The Michigan Secretary of State website has a list of identification accepted at polling places and explains how to vote when you don't have a picture ID.

Voter registration

In order to vote, you must be at least 18 years old by election day and be a resident of Michigan and of the city in which you're voting. You must have registered at least 30 days prior to election day. Find out whether you're registered to vote on the Michigan Secretary of State website.
