Free Hoopnotica Trial and Demonstration

Contrary to popular belief, adults can easily learn to “hula” hoop using large, taped and slightly weighted dance hoops. The key to success is the size of the hoop and specific instruction points. "Hooping" as a form of exercise has started to take hold in recent years, but many adults are reluctant to try it, assuming they will be unable to do it.

The public is invited to a free trial and information session at Dancing Feats Dance Centre in downtown Farmington on Saturday, July 21 from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Hoops of various sizes will be available for people to try and compare. Participants are encouraged to stay the full hour but are welcome to drop in for whatever their schedule allows. A prize drawing of either a custom adult hula hoop, or private lesson will be selected from entries collected during the event. Winner does not need to be present at time of drawing.

Certified Hoopnotica instructor and ACSM-certified personal trainer Jan Henry will provide instruction focusing on waist hooping and other beginning skills as well as lead participants in exercises from Hoopnotica's brand new HoopnoticaFit program. Information about the hoops and the hooping movement will be discussed. The curriculum was developed for, and is popular with, adults and teens across the country. Class options will be discussed, including mother/daughter sessions – a great opportunity to exercise with the family! Participants may bring an adult hoop if they have one but hoops will be available for the event.

Hoopnotica is a fusion of hula hooping and dance, taught in a curriculum style that builds skill upon skill until the student is able to flow from one movement to the next. The result is improved fitness, potential weight loss, and a lighter attitude. Hoopnotica has been featured in major magazines, morning news shows and on ABC's The Revolution. A respected study has shown hooping to be as effective as kickboxing in improving fitness and promoting weight loss.

HoopnoticaFit was designed to meet the demands of the everyday exerciser: fun, accessible, effective. Weekly classes are modeled after traditional aerobic workouts and incorporate the hoop as both a cardio and resistance tool. It's low-impact and fully customizable, so you can get a killer full-body workout without even spinning the hoop around the waist. But once you get the hoop going you'll really blast calories and find yourself smiling, too!
