Learn How to Use 1940 Census Data

The 1940 U.S. Census is now online, but is not searchable by name. The only way to find relatives is by using the Enumeration District (ED) number to find relatives. To find the ED number, you need to know the 1940 address or cross streets of the person you are looking for. Sue Cromwell and Clare Mallon from the Farmington Genealogical Society will demonstrate locating the ED number and then using it to navigate the U.S. Census site. This program is free and open to the general public. Register at  farmlib.org or by calling 248-553-6880. The Main Branch of the Farmington Community Library is located at 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd. Farmington Hills, MI 48334
