Farmington PTA Reflections Nets Record 20 State Winners

Four of the annual arts program honorees now move on to national competition.

A record 20 entries have won awards in the Michigan Parent Teacher Student Association (MPTSA) Reflections competition.

Farmington students earned eight Awards of Excellence and 12 Awards of Merit. Four entries were also selected for national competition: “Together We Can Protect Our Environment by Recycling More” by Haakam Aujla, ; “Together We Can Stop Hunger” by Margaret Amshay, ; “Together We Can Make the World Grow” by Anjali Chandra, ; and “Untitled” by Hannah Thomas, . 

This year's theme, "Together We Can..." produced 7,000 entries from Michigan, 1,400 of which were forwarded to the state committee for consideration.

District and state winners will be on display at the Northville Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 17111 Haggerty Rd., March 13-19, 2011. District, state and national entries will be recognized locally at the May 24, 2011 Farmington Public Schools’ Board of Education meeting which will be held at School at 7:30 p.m.

Entries were judged in six categories and four divisions: Primary (Pre-K through 2nd grade), Intermediate (grades 3-5), Middle/Junior (grades 6-8) and Senior (9-12). Winners are:
