Farmington Public, Private Schools Closed Monday

More than 100 metro Detroit school districts have announced Monday closures.

Farmington public and private schools have canceled classes Jan. 6, in the wake of a weekend winter storm that may dump as much as a foot of snow on southeast Michigan by Monday morning. 

Superintendent Sue Zurvalec said in a Facebook post early Sunday afternoon that she planned to speak with "a weather expert and other Oakland County Superintendents" before deciding whether to close schools. By late Sunday afternoon. hundreds of metro Detroit school districts had announced Monday closures. 

The City of Farmington declared a snow emergency Sunday afternoon.
