Farmington Schools Honors Harrison High Tutor

Marge Whittemore helps Harrison High students with homework, test preparation and more.

Harrison High School volunteer tutor Marge Whittemore was honored Sept. 30 with the Farmington Public Schools “Senior Extraordinaire” award.

Presented during the 18th annual Senior Adult Breakfast, the award honors a senior adult who is involved in district educational activities and volunteers with students.

Each week, Monday through Thursday, Whittemore tutors several students with homework, test preparation and more. Nominator Angela Leach, Harrison High School assistant principal, called Whittemore the "geometry guru".

“Marge is so giving," Leach wrote. "Her gentle nature assures students they are in the right place for help. She puts them at ease, encourages them and celebrates their success."
