Farmington Schools Students Win Top Honors in Math Pentathlete Tournament

Division II includes more than 600 students from Michigan and Ohio. Hosting this event takes more than 100 parent volunteers to work the tournament and an additional 40 volunteers to setup and run the tournament. More than 100 Farmington Public Schools' students participate every year.

The Mathematics Pentathlon is a program of interactive problem-solving games, supportive curricular and instructional activities, and assessment tools for students in grades K-7, divided into four divisions. Each division consists of five games.

This motivational program strengthens basic math concepts and skills, aligns with national and state mathematics standards, and stimulates creative thinking while developing problem-solving skills. Constructive competition is offered by the Pentathlon Institute for students who have become proficient at the games and want to test their problem-solving/strategic thinking skills with other students.

Below are the top place holders in each school. In addition to these awards, Farmington Public Schools' second and third grade students earned 24 Honorable Mentions and 99 Pentathlete Awards.
