Former Harrison High Principal Tapped as Interim During Search

Dr. Jim Myers worked with district from 1990 until his retirement in 2007.

has named Dr. Jim Myers, who retired from the district in 2007, as interim principal at . Myers once served in that position during his tenure with the district. 

"We are confident that Dr. Myers will serve the school well until the District is able to find the best candidate to serve as the next principal of Harrison High School," David Ruhland, assistant superintendent for administrative services, said.

A search for a new Harrison principal has been underway since June 25, when former principal Aaron Johnson announced that he had accepted a position with another district.

Myers was first hired in 1990 and has served as principal at Farmington High School, Executive Director of Student Services, and principal at Dunckel Middle School. He also served as principal at Harrison High School during another transition phase at the school.

The posting for the Harrison High School position, which is online at www.farmington.k12.mi.us, opened July 13 and closes Sept. 28. Staff, students and parents will have the chance to weigh in on the process sometime in September.

Assistant Principal Chris O'Brien remains in charge until Myers takes over on July 30.
