Hillel Day School Joins Exclusive EdLeader21 Network

The Farmington Hills-based school becomes the only faith-based, Jewish day school in the country included in the organization.

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit, based in Farmington Hills, has been accepted into the prestigious academic institution EdLeader21.

The national network of school leaders focuses on integrating select core values promoting 21st century education. With its acceptance, Hillel is the only Jewish, faith-based day school in the country to be included in the 128-member organization.

Meeting and exceeding EdLeader21’s strict core criteria—Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity into Education—Hillel instituted its additional 3 “C”s—Character, Community and Core Jewish Values.

“Hillel is committed to insuring that Hillel graduates are critical and creative thinkers, collaborators and effective communicators,” Steve Freedman, Head of School, said. “At the same time, Hillel also provides an environment that fosters authentic Jewish literacy that gives our children the skills, tools, information and exposure and to personally engage with Jewish sacred texts, ancient to modern, in ways that deeply impact who they are – mind and soul.”

Founded in 2010, EdLeader21 is composed of top school administrators and teachers from around the country. The organization has been involved in ground-breaking projects that measure student achievement across a range of subjects.
