Masonic Scholarship Applications Available at Farmington Schools

The Farmington Lodge is awarding $1,000 scholarships to students in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

The  has distributed applications for its annual scholarship program to Farmington area schools.

Applications are due by Feb. 29 and are available at ,   and  counseling offices, Lodge spokesperson Hal Groat said. The scholarships are not necessarily based on academics; students write a 250-300 word essay that explains their life's goals and what they're doing to reach them.

For instance, he said, a student might describe a work experience they had in high school that's related to what they want to study in college.
