North Farmington Student Receives Credit Union Scholarship

Makayla McCoskey is among 12 students honored by Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union.

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) announced a student is among 12 winners of its Rudolph Heino Scholarship awards.

Makayla McCoskey, chosen to receive the one-time scholarship, was honored at a reception at Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union on May 10.

“Each student who submitted an application is extraordinary,” Peter Gates, President and CEO of the Credit Union said. “Makayla clearly stood out as a shining example of the Credit Union philosophy, ‘people helping people’. We are honored to be able to award Makayla with a $1,000 scholarship that will help her reach her educational goals.”

The scholarship recipients clearly demonstrate a desire to overcome obstacles, dedicate themselves to worthy causes, and persevere toward their educational goals. McCoskey was a member of the National Honor Society and served as the Senior Community Outreach Chair for Farmington Hills’ Mayor’s Youth Council. She also spends her time volunteering in the Neuroscience Unit at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. McCoskey will attend the University of Michigan in the fall to study Cellular and Molecular Biology.

The Rudolph Heino Scholarship is one of three programs offered by MSGCU. Each year the Credit Union awards nearly $50,000 worth of scholarships to high school students and adults alike. For more information, visit msgcu.org or call 586-263-8800 or 866-674-2848, option 6.
