OCC Orchard Ridge Chef Wins Cake Competition Awards

Chef Michaelle Stidham teaches at the Farmington Hills campus' Culinary Institute.

Oakland Community College Culinary Institute Chef Instructor Michaelle Stidham of Pontiac has won three awards at the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show, the largest cake competition in the nation.

The event was held October 1 and 2 at the Tulsa State Fair Grounds in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Competitors came from all across the United States and a number of other countries.

Chef Stidham’s gelatin creation took First Place in the Master’s Division Category – Tiered Cakes – Non Wedding, the Best of Master’s Division, which includes more than eight categories, and Best of Show.

Stidham teaches Wedding Cake Design at and earned her pastry chef certification at Knollwood Country Club. She is an OCC Culinary Arts alumna, and has written two books on the art of gelatin decoration.
