OCC Orchard Ridge Mardi Gras to Raise Funds for Culinary Olympic Team

The team will compete in the 23rd World Culinary Olympics in Germany this fall.

Oakland Community College’s Culinary Studies Institute will host a Mardi Gras Celebration and Fundraiser Feb. 21, 6 p.m., to benefit the 2012 Michigan Culinary Olympic Team.

The event will be held in Building J at in Farmington Hills. A delectable selection of dinner stations, with cash bar and the sounds of a New Orleans-style jazz group will be featured.

Admission is $60 per person. All proceeds support the 2012 Michigan Culinary Team representing the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine, the State of Michigan and the USA at the 23rd World Culinary Olympics to be held in Erfurt, Germany in October, 2012.

One of the Culinary Olympic Team’s chefs will oversee each station. The members of the team include: 

  • Randy Smith, CEC, Team Manger – Walnut Creek Country Club

  • Brian Beland, CMC – Country Club of Detroit

  • Doug Ganhs, CEC – OCC Culinary Studies Institute

  • Kris Jablonski – Henry Ford Community College

  • Shawn Loving, CEC, CAC – Schoolcraft Community College

  • John Miller, CCC – Chartwells at Oakland University

  • Gabriel Vera – MGM Grand Detroit

  • Checks should be made payable to Michigan Chefs de Cuisine and sent to the OCC Culinary Studies Institute, 27055 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334.
