Teens Share Friendship, Love of Music Through 6 Degrees North

The select North Farmington High vocal ensemble includes two sets of twins.

A conversation with the North Farmington High vocal ensemble 6 Degrees North is a little like talking to one person with six voices.

Group members Rachael Freedman, 14, Katie Sack, 15, Lindsey Freedman, 14, Jackie Labadie, 15, Brennan Regan, 15, and Lizzie Labadie, 15 were chosen after auditions held earlier this year.

Under the supervision of Dr. Sheri Jaffurs, they rehearse a few days a week in school, but have a friendship that goes well beyond those walls. The teens get together at each other's homes and say they chat online until the wee hours of the morning.

"We don't just sing together," Lizzie said. "We're all best friends."

It probably helps that the group includes two sets of twins–the Freedmans and the Labadies. And while all of the girls have different musical backgrounds, they have common goals that include more community outreach.

The group has been asked to sing during Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society fundraiser in Farmington, and hope to do a fundraiser for the school's choir.
