Harrison Girls Basketball Team Takes First District Title in School History

The Hawks scored a 47-42 win over Walled Lake Western Friday.

After a near-perfect 19-1 season, the Harrison High girls basketball team took their first-ever Class A District title Friday, with a 47-42 win over Walled Lake Western on their home court.

A story posted on miprepzone.com recaps the game, which Harrison led through most of three quarters. Walled Lake mounted a comeback in the final minutes, but it wasn't enough for the win.

Head coach Tim Micklash told a miprepzone.com reporter that the basketball title was a first in the school's 40-year history, for either girls or boys basketball.

"This is the first. I hope it's really something the girls can really reflect on and be proud of their accomplishment because I am certainly proud of them. For them to be the first, they have a legacy now at Harrison," Micklash said.
