Former standout Chris Pyant will play with the Wayne State University Warriors in their first football national championship game this weekend against Pittsburg State.
The Division II championship game will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Florence, LA. It will be broadcast live on ESPN2. Wayne State is 12-3 overall this year.
According to the WSU Athletics website, Pyant, a red-shirt senior and biological sciences major, attended Western Michigan part-time in the fall of 2010 and transferred to WSU in January of 2011. The 6'3" defensive tackle was named to the 2011 All-GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference) Honorable Mention team.
A 2006 Harrison graduate, Pyant was team captain in his senior year and helped lead the Hawks to 10-3 record as a senior, along with both regional and district championships.
