Harrison to Kick Off Football Season at Big Day Prep Showdown VII

Special advance tickets are available for the annual prep football preview event.

Detroit Sports announced today that for the first time in the seven-year history of the event, a special $14.99, all-session/all-games ticket is now available for the 2011 Big Day Prep Showdown VII set for August 25, 26 and 27 at Eastern Michigan University’s Rynearson Stadium.

's football team will participate in the event, playing Cass Tech at 8 p.m. on Aug. 27. Tickets must be purchased by June 15.

Since its inception in 2005, the Big Day Prep Showdown has been the premier opening-week high school football event in the state of Michigan, and in 2008 was named the Outstanding Locally Created Event by the National Association of Sports Commissions.

The all-session/all-games ticket to the Big Day Prep Showdown VII offers the opportunity to kick off the 2011 MHSAA season and see dozens of major college recruits in one setting.

Thursday, Aug.  25: 5 p.m.-Clinton vs. Manchester;  8 p.m.-Sterling Heights Stevenson vs. Howell

Friday, Aug. 26: 5 p.m.-Ann Arbor Skyline vs. Hartland; 8 p.m.-Chelsea vs. Novi

Saturday, Aug. 27: 11 a.m.- Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central vs. Plymouth; 2 p.m.-Lake Fenton vs. Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard; 5 p.m.-Detroit Martin Luther King vs. Brother Rice; 8 p.m.-Cass Tech vs. Farmington Hills Harrison

In addition to a line-up of games featuring top teams including the event nightcap on Saturday, Aug. 27 between the 2010 MHSAA Division 2 State Champion Harrison and 2010 MHSAA Division I Semi-Finalist Cass Tech, the Big Day Prep Showdown VII will showcase a host of top-level D1 collegiate prospects including Aaron Burbridge , Devin Funchess, Mario Ojemudia of Harrison; Devin Church of Brother Rice, Royce Jenkins-Stone,  Terry Richardson  and Laron Taylor of Cass Tech, Dennis Norfleet of Detroit King, and Donte Fox and Robert Riche of Plymouth.

The advance ticket is available only online at detroitsports.org now through June 15. After June 15, the ticket price is $18.99 and available until Aug. 25.

Advance single-session tickets are also now available at all participating schools for the Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 games and are $6 for students and $8 for adults. Advance tickets are available at all participating schools for the games on Aug. 27; they are $7 for students and $9 for adults.

On-line tickets at detroitsports.org include an additional ticket processing fee of 75 cents per ticket. All tickets at the gate are $10 on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, and $12 on Aug. 27. Children age five and under are free. All tickets provide admission for all games on that day.
