UPDATE: Lions Wide Receiver Nate Burleson Injured in Farmington Hills Crash

No alcohol was involved in the single-vehicle accident, according to news reports.

Nate Burleson, a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, will undergo surgery today after suffering a broken arm in a crash that happened in Farmington Hills.

According to WDIV-TV, the accident happened around 2 a.m. on I-696, near Drake Road. ESPN.com reports it was a single-vehicle accident, and no alcohol was involved. The Detroit Free Press reported that state police said Burleson was distracted "by a pizza falling off his front seat".

The 6-foot, 198-pound Seattle, WA native has 19 receptions for 239 yards so far this season, according to the Detroit Lions website. On Sept. 20, the Lions announced that Burleson would receive the 2013 Ed Block Courage Award, honoring his recovery from a broken leg in a game played last year. He received the award in 2009, after recovering from a torn ACL.
