North Farmington-West Bloomfield Teams Earn Playoff Berths

The Vikings freshman team wins a Division championship and makes it to the Nov. 3 Oakland-Macomb Youth Football Association Super Bowl.

The 2013 North Farmington-West Bloomfield Vikings freshman, junior varsity (JV) and varsity teams all made it into Oakland-Macomb Youth Football Association (OMYFA) post-season play.

The JV team lost during the first round, and varsity players lost in the Division Finals, while the freshman team won its Division Championship and a spot in the Nov. 3 Super Bowl, under the direction of first year Head Coach Matt Balazovic and six assistant coaches.

Last year, the freshmen won only two games all season and did not make it to the playoffs.

During the Super Bowl match-up against the Madison Heights Wolverines, the Wolverines got on the board first with about two minutes left in the first quarter. The Vikings answered almost immediately, two minutes into the second quarter, with a long pass and a 35 yard run for the score. The extra point was good, and the teams remained tied 7-7 through most of the fourth quarter.

The Wolverines scored with about four minutes left in the game, handing the Vikings a 13-7 loss.
