Troy, Farmington Hills Hockey Players Make Girls USA Hockey Under-18 Team

The three compete this weekend in a three-game series against Canada.

Three players from the 19U Honeybaked Girls hockey team have been selected to USA Hockey’s Under-18 team.

The team competes this weekend in a three-game series against Canada, at the National Sports Center's Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN.

Lexi Shaw, of Troy, is one of two goalies selected to the squad. Entering her senior year at  in Farmington Hills, she has committed to the University of North Dakota for the fall of 2013. This is Lexi’s third year with the Honeybaked program, and she helped backstop the HB 16U team to the 2011 National Championship.

Shaw's teammate Kirsten Padalis will lead the defense corps for Team USA. Padalis is a native of Farmington Hills and is entering her senior year at Mercy High School. The Honeybaked veteran was also a key part of the 16U National Championship; and in the fall of 2013, Kirsten will be taking her talents to St. Lawrence University.

Up front is Andie Anastos, another Farmington Hills native, is the daughter of Tom Anastos, current head men's ice hockey coach at Michigan State University. A long-time Honeybaked player, she was alongside her teammates Shaw and Padalis and also played a key role on the 2011 16U team National Championship squad. Andie is entering her senior year at Livonia Ladywood High School, and in the fall of 2013 will head to Chestnut Hill, MA and join the Boston College Eagles.
