Art on the Grand Offers Chocolate, Chalk and Art in Downtown Farmington June 1-3

The annual event on Grand River features a pre-glow with tastings from Michigan chocolatiers.

Works by more than 100 fine artists will be on display this weekend during Art on the Grand, in downtown Farmington.

The juried art festival closes Grand River, from Grove west to Farmington Road, Friday evening through Sunday evening. 

Visitors to this year's Grapes on the Grand pre-glow, held Friday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., will enjoy sampling Michigan-made chocolates, along with a selection of beer and wine, at the . Detroit singer/songwriter Robin Horlock takes the stage, performing a mix of original music and covers.

The Grapes on the Grand tent will also be open Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (21 and up only between 6 p.m.-9 p.m.) and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be a sports memorabilia silent auction Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

The juried festival opens Saturday at 10 a.m., featuring two stages of live music, hands-on art activities for kids, chalk art with the Farmington Community Library and a “Chocolate Tour” of Michigan chocolatiers. A “Golden Ticket” map, available at the information booth, will list their locations downtown Farmington stores.

The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market will be open on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The chocolate and beer/wine tasting continues Saturday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Grapes on the Grand tent. , twin brothers Mike and Scott McMath of Midland who combine music and art, return to the festival that evening. 

Sunday brings more art, music and children's activities when the festival opens at 11 a.m.
