Bring a Book to July 10 Family Concert in Downtown Farmington

Musician Jim Gill will have families singing and playing during Family Fun in Riley Park at 7 p.m.

Help "Stuff the Bus" with books and enjoy a concert with musician Jim Gill July 10 during Family Fun in Riley Park.

The downtown Farmington event starts at 7 p.m. at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park on Grand River.

With a child development background specializing in the study of play, Gill brings his unique emphasis on “play” to his live concerts. Everyone will be singing and participating together.

The Friends of the Farmington Community Library and SMART (Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation) asks everyone to bring a new or gently used book. Contributions will benefit the Farmington Community Library.

The organizations hope to collect more than the 1,700 books donated last year. Books can also be taken to the Main Library on 12 Mile Road or the Farmington branch on Liberty Street July 1-12.

“The Family Fun series at Riley Park, in addition to the Stuff-A-Bus donations, are opportunities we are proud to take part in,” said SMART General Manager John Hertel. “SMART believes in fostering events and programs that make positive changes in the communities we serve. Our customers’ quality of life is always of the highest priority.”
