Find Original, Hand-Made Items at Downtown Farmington Founders Festival

More than 100 crafters from around the country will display their wares in downtown Farmington July 20 and 21.

If you are looking for something handmade with character or charm, you can find it at the Crafters Marketplace during the Downtown Farmington Founders Festival.

More than 100 crafters will display their work during this juried craft show, sponsored by SMART.

All work exhibited must be original and handcrafted by the artist. Many different craft categories will be represented, including fashion, garden art, children’s items, pottery, jewelry and photography. Crafters come from around the country as well as all over the state of Michigan.

Food vendors, mainly from the metro Detroit area, and 20 local non-profit booths, including the Farmington Family YMCA, Farmington Hills Fire Fighters, Homeless Heroes USA and Home FurEver, as well as several Farmington churches, will have booths at the event. 

Home FurEver is a volunteer-based non-profit, no-kill canine adoption organization. Home FurEver dogs live in temporary foster homes until they are adopted by an approved family. Home FurEver is in need of supplies to help care for the animals including: dog food, paper towels, hand sanitizer and Clorox Disinfectant Spray, and donations can be dropped off in their booth at .

Also Memorial Park behind the Masonic Temple, the Go Green area will provide events that offer fun and education about environmental issues. Go Green vendors include Maxi Container specializing in rain barrels and container gardening, Big Birdie Golf offering handcrafted backyard golf made from recycled goods and many organic vendors offering food, produce, beauty products and pet treats. 

A RainBarrel/Composter Workshop will be hosted by  Friday, July 20 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, July 21 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Registration is required; call 248-474-6880 to reserve a space.

The Crafters Marketplace is open Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., at Farmington Road and the Downtown Farmington Center Lot. Admission is free.
