Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Thursday with the Farmington Community Band

The Farmington Community Band kicks off this year's "Stars in the Park" free concert series Thursday, June 21 in Farmington Hills. 

The accomplished band with over 80 members plays a wide variety of music from pop to jazz to a touch of classical.

All concerts are sponsored by Mercedes Benz Financial Services of Farmington Hills, start at 7 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic dinner.

There are no concerts on July 5 or July 19; here's the rest of the season:

June 28 Lookin’ Back: An exciting tribute to Bob Seger plus a rock 'n’ roll retrospective

July 12 Shout: Michigan’s premier Beatles tribute band

July 26 FCB Big Band: Jazz and swing favorites from the past, with informative introductions

August 2 Delta Twins: Blues/Americana/rock, performed by an accomplished Farmington-based band of performers.

August 9 Arizona Sun with Devin Scillian: Named “Best Country Performer” at the Detroit Music Awards, Scillian has his own brand of country music backed by “Arizona Son,” who have opened for singers such as Reba McIntire and Leann
Rimes.

August 16 Mass Transit: Nine-piece, horn-based group plays selections from Motown, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, and more, along with contemporary rock.

August 23 Farmington Community Chorus: An 80-member chorus singing a wide variety of selections in the traditional end to the series
