Alcoa, City of Farmington Hills Host Heritage Park Clean-Up Day

Residents are invited to help with a variety of projects on Oct. 9.

The and Alcoa, based in Farmington Hills, invite members of the community to participate in a special Clean-Up Day on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Employees from Alcoa’s Automotive Center, located at 12 Mile and Halsted, plan to give back to the community by taking on projects that will help enhance the natural beauty of the park.

Participants at the Clean-Up Day will be split into groups according to tasks that will range from easy to more physically demanding. City staff will assist and provide all tools and supplies needed to perform the jobs.

Clean-Up Day tasks will include:

  • Cutting down perennials at the Visitors Center and bagging debris

  • Painting fire hydrants

  • Raking mulch at playgrounds and shelters

  • Removing buckthorn in wooded areas and near volleyball courts

  • Chopping wood and replacing mulch along the Nature Center discovery trails
