American Cancer Society Relay for Life Kicks Off at Shiawassee Park in Farmington

Teams are walking and hosting fundraisers through Sunday morning to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Head down to in Farmington today and help raise funds to support the work of the American Cancer Society.

In tents pitched on the east side of the park, teams are camping out and also raising funds with sales of books, handmade items and refreshments, massages and games. Walkers kicked off their 24-hour marathon this morning at 10 a.m., with music from the jazz band and a performance by the Janeen Hula Dancers. They took their first lap led by the Farmington United Percussion drum line.

The public is welcome. , honoring those who have lost their lives to cancer, begins at 10 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday at 7:30 a.m., the will serve a pancake breakfast, with all the proceeds going to Relay for Life.
