Farmington Hills Needs Help with Harmon Oaks Park

Volunteers will help restore the park's natural habitat Saturday.

Harmon Oaks Park in Farmington Hills will be the site of a Restoration Work Day on Saturday, from 8 a.m. until noon.

Volunteers are needed to help remove buckthorn, a non-native invasive shrub, which will help native plants move back in and restore the original habitat.

The city will provide equipment, but volunteers are asked to bring lopers, clippers, small saws, bow saws, and gloves, if possible. Participants are also asked to dress in long pants and long sleeves for poison ivy protection and to come armed with bug spray and sunscreen.
