Local American Legion Members Meet WWII K-9 Trainer

Ray Chiasson was assigned to train dogs at Fort Robinson in Nebraska.

On January 17, 2012, Kenneth Reynolds of in Farmington and Phil Weitlauf, Junior Vice Commander of American Legion Post 246 and Amvets Post 2006 Milford met with Ray Chiasson, a World War II veteran who was a dog trainer at Fort Robinson, Nebraska in 1945 and 1946.

Reynolds writes:

"Former Technical Sergeant 3rd Grade Ray Chiasson now resides at Abbey Park at Mill River in New Hudson, MI. He was just busting with pride as he talked about his experiences as a dog trainer. He was chosen right out of basic training to be a dog trainer and was sent to Fort Robinson which was also home to a German POW Camp that was guarded by sentry dogs. Every soldier in Ray’s unit was assigned four dogs."
