S.O.U.L. Bowl Benefits Family with Foster Kids in Need

The Dec. 4 event offers bowling, food and a raffle that includes a trip for two to Las Vegas.

A family with two foster children who have medical needs will benefit from a Sunday bowling fundraiser at in Farmington. 

"The mother adopted two medically-challenged children, a son and a daughter," said David Pniewski, ambassador for S.O.U.L. (Source of Universal Love), a Farmington-based charity that's providing her with support. "There's quite a few in the household. (The mother) is a very loving individual ... and there are some definite needs to be met."

S.O.U.L. has already assisted the family in finding wheelchairs for the children, he added.

Doors open for the S.O.U.L. Bowl at 1:30 p.m., and bowling starts at 2 p.m. A $20 registration fee includes three games of bowling, soft drinks and pizza. Raffle tickets will be sold for a variety of prizes – including a trip for two to Las Vegas, donated by Drakeshire. 

"That was a blessing in itself," Pniewski said of the top prize. He added that 28 lanes will be set up, with room for 140 bowlers. While RSVPs are preferred, walk-ins will be welcome.

S.O.U.L. also operates a re-sale shop on Grand River, where the organization connects with families and raises funds. While operating primarily in Farmington and Farmington Hills, Pniewski said S.O.U.L. will help anyone in need.

Executive director of the organization is Ginger Wiechers, owner of in downtown Farmington. West Bloomfield-based , in the Lake Side shopping center on Orchard Lake Road, also supports S.O.U.L. 

Registrations for S.O.U.L. Bowl are a little low right now, but Pniewski believes the community will respond. He carries the same optimistic attitude everywhere he goes and says his passion is helping people, especially those who may have abandoned hope.

"I don't give up," Pniewski said. "Where there's a will there's a way. We have a lot of families in need right now."
