New Farmington, Hills Officials Take Office and More This Week

Oaths of office will be administered during tonight's Farmington and Farmington Hills city council meetings.

Council members for the City of Farmington and City of Farmington Hills will take their oaths of office during meetings this evening.

Here's more information about the ceremonies and other events on the Patch calendar:

1. Oaths administered

Newly elected council members Jeff Scott, Bill Galvin and Greg Cowley in Farmington; Valerie Knol, Samantha Steckloff, Michael Bridges and Mayor Barry Brickner in Farmington Hills, will be sworn in during Monday's city council meetings. Farmington officials meet at 7 p.m.; they will also choose a new mayor. The Farmington Hills meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

2. Farmington Area PTA Council Meeting

State Rep. Vicki Barnett, Gina Adams-Levy of Peace, Love & Planet and Sheri Fucinari of School of Rock will speak during this meeting, held Monday, 7 p.m., at the Ten Mile Building, 32789 W. 10 Mile Rd. It's open to Farmington Public Schools parents. 

3. Thankful for Families: Personal Narratives

Storyteller Corrine Stavish will share Thanksgiving tales on Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the Farmington Community Library Main Library Auditorium, 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd., in Farmington Hills. No registration is required. 

4. Celebrate World Diabetes Day Nov. 14 at Botsford

A person who has been successful at controlling diabetes will share personal stories, provide support and give practical advice during this seminar held Thursday at Botsford's Diabetes & Nutrition classroom, Suite 301, Professional Center South, 28100 Grand River in Farmington Hills.
