Officials Look at Medical Marijuana Moratorium and More This Week

Farmington Hills city council members meet in a 6 p.m. study session before today's regular meeting.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Farmington-Farmington Hills to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch events calendar.

1. Happening today

  • Farmington Hills city council looks at marijuana ordinance moratorium extension
Officials will, in a 6 p.m. study session and during their 7:30 p.m. regular meeting, discuss a fifth extension of a moratorium on marijuana-related land uses. Ordinance changes connected with passage of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act have been under consideration since 2010.

2. Help others

  • Make a Neighborhood House donation
Donation bins are available at Farmington and Farmington Hills city halls. There's always a need for nonperishable foods, paper goods and personal hygiene items.

3. Local Voice of the Week

This local business had their blog post about finding critters in dryer vents featured on the national Patch Facebook page. You can start a blog on Patch, too - here's where you get started: farmington-mi.patch.com/blogs/new

4. Look ahead

Dr. Kathleen Hannon will answer questions as you walk with her along the trails in Heritage Park at noon on June 20. Special guest will be Dr. Don from 99.5 FM WYCD, Detroit's country radio station.

5. Don't miss it

This camp helps kids keep their skills sharp during the summer, while having fun. It runs June 17 to Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; care before those hours is available.
