What's Open, Closed on New Year's Day?

Trash collection will be delayed this week for some routes in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

Local businesses and restaurants may be open New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, but government offices and the library will be closed.

Both Farmington and Farmington Hills city offices will be closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2013, as will the 47th District Court. The Farmington Community Library Main Library and Farmington branch will be closed those two days as well, re-opening Jan. 2.

The Farmington and Farmington Hills post office branches will both close for the holiday at noon on Dec. 31, but both have Automated Postal Centers, where customers can purchase postage, weigh and mail letters or packages. Mail delivery happens on New Year's Eve, but not New Year's Day.
