Family Fun This Weekend in Farmington and Farmington Hills

Activities include a fire department open house and Family Fun fundraiser for the downtown Farmington ice rink.

A busy weekend in Farmington and Farmington Hills includes a benefit for the new ice rink in downtown Farmington, a fire department open house and more. 

Here's more information about a few of the events posted on the Patch weekend calendar

1. Farmington Hills Fire Department Open House

Dress up as a firefighter, tour a fire engine, meet Sparky the Fire Dog and more at Farmington Hills Fire Department Station No. 5, at 11 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads, on Friday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everything's free. 

2. St. Gerald's Fall Festival

The church on Farmington Road celebrates its 50th anniversary with a weekend of activities including a spaghetti dinner and magic show, car show, beer tent with entertainment by Phoenix Theory, international potluck and family fun day. 

3. Family Fun Ice Rink Fundraiser

Morning ice fishing, snowball toss and more at Riley Park, and a 1 p.m. Mad Science of Detroit show at the Farmington Civic Theater are among the activities during this Saturday fundraiser in downtown Farmington. 

4. Farmington FoodaPollooza!

Four food trucks will converge at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for an event that will benefit local food shelves and kickstART farmington's 2014 Greater Farmington Film Festival. Please bring a nonperishable food item. 

5. Chamber Music concert

Chamber Soloists of Detroit presents Aaron Berofsky & Friends performing Sunday, 3 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, 26165 Farmington Road. The program features works by Mozart, Brahms and Martinu. Tickets at chambersoloistsdetroit.org or call 586-944-5353.
