I-696, I-96 Ramp, Lane Closures This Weekend

Here's a roundup of road closures and construction around southeast Michigan this weekend.

The following construction activities are scheduled for the weekend beginning Friday, Sept. 20, and ending Monday, Sept. 23. Some of this work may be postponed due to inclement weather or any unforeseen circumstances.

TOTAL CLOSURE:

I-696:

In Oakland and Macomb counties, eastbound I-696 will be closed from I-75 to Mound Road starting at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured south on I-75 to eastbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road), to northbound Mound Road back to eastbound I-696. Eastbound I-696 traffic will remain in the right lane until Schoenherr Highway. All entrance ramps to eastbound I-696 will be closed from Woodward to Hoover. The closure is needed for pavement repair.

LANE/RAMP CLOSURES:

I-96:

In Oakland County, the right and center lanes of westbound I-96 will be closed from Novi to Kent Lake roads during the following times for ongoing resurfacing work.

10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday;

10 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday;

9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

I-696:

In Oakland County, the right lane of eastbound I-696 will be closed at Telegraph Road from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for maintenance work.

I-75:

In Wayne County, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed at Southfield Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound I-75 will be closed from 14 Mile to Maple roads from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for maintenance work.

I-275:

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound I-275 will be closed at Koppernick Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. In addition, the ramp from westbound Ford Road to northbound I-275 will be closed.

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will be reduced to a single lane between Ecorse Road and Michigan Avenue from 6 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday to allow for a traffic shift in conjunction with the ongoing bridge work at the railroad structure.

In Wayne County, the southbound I-275 exit to 8 Mile Road will be closed from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. both Saturday andSunday for maintenance.  

I-94:

In Macomb County, westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed, eastbound I-94 will have one lane closed, between Masonic Blvd and I-696 from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing. In addition, the ramp from eastbound I-696 to eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane.  

In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed between Monroe Street and Beech Daly Road from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for pavement repair.

M-59 (Hall Road):

In Macomb County, eastbound M-59 will have two lanes closed from Garfield to Romeo Plank roads from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Detroit, the left three lanes of southbound M-10 will be closed at Clairmount Avenue from 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. Sundayfor sign replacement. 

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Woodward Ave will have multiple lane closures OVERNIGHTS from9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday through Sunday between Catalpa and Oakridge roads for resurfacing. 


Beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 23:

I-696:

In Oakland County, the right lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at Farmington Road DAILY from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for sign work.

I-75:

In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed NIGHTLY from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. the following mornings from 12 Mile to Big Beaver roads, starting Monday and ending Friday for pavement repair. 

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have the right lane closed at 13 Mile DAILY from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for sign work.

 M-14:

In Wayne County, the westbound M-14 ramp to Sheldon Road will continue to have a single lane closed through mid-November for the county’s resurfacing of Sheldon Road.

M-53 (Van Dyke Freeway):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 will have a single lane closed between 22 Mile Road and the Clinton River NIGHTLY starting at 8 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following mornings starting Monday and endingFriday for bridge work.
