Located on the City of Farmington Hills municipal campus, the 47th District Court serves only the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills. The court has two judges, James Brady and Marla Parker, and Magistrates Michael Sawicky, Carl Christoph and Dennis J. Pheney. They preside over cases that include small claims, traffic violations, landlord-tenant disputes, misdemeanor offenses,  and civil suits less than $25,000. Judges also handle initial steps in felony criminal cases. Other programs includes Sobriety Court, a 24-month program for drunk driving offenders who meet certain criteria, and the Community Work Program, a sentencing alternative for qualified misdemeanor defendants.
