The Farmington Public Safety provides police and fire services. The department's 23 full-time officers are trained and certified as both police officers and firefighters. The department also includes five dispatchers, four cross-trained public safety officers and seven fire reservists, records supervisor, administrative assistant and a part-time records clerk.

The department is organized with an administrative division, fire service, patrol division and special operations division, which includes two detectives, school liaison officer and fire marshal. Community policing initiatives include Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, school safety and education programs.
