Gill Elementary School educates students in grades K-4 with a mission to "inspire lifelong learning by providing opportunities for all learners to become responsible, healthy, creative, knowledgeable and resourceful individuals who contribute and communicate within our diverse world." The school meets Annual Yearly Progress as defined by the Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, and has received an "A" on its State of Michigan report card. All Gill teachers meet standards to be considered "highly qualified," as defined by NCLB. One of the school's initiatives is "A+ Expectations," which clearly defines standards for student behavior. The PTA also organizes a Mustang Mini-Marathon to encourage physical fitness, while allowing children to raise funds that benefit school programs.
