Serving students in grades K-4, Hillside Elementary was awarded the "Evergreen School" Oakland Schools award in 2009-2010 for its attention to recycling and other "green" activities. The school meets Annual Yearly Progress as defined by the federal No Child Left Behind Act and received an "A" composite grade on its State of Michigan report card. LOC Federal Credit Union at Hillside, managed by 4th graders under the direction of an LOC Federal Credit Union employee, offers students the opportunity to open and manage a savings account.
