Farmington Hills Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Jan. 16 Assault

The investigation is tied to a simliar case in Northville.

Farmington Hills Police on Friday released a sketch of a suspect in the brutal assault on a 42-year-old resident of Village Green Condominium Complex on Jan. 16. The case may be tied to an assault on a Northville woman earlier on the same day. Evidence of that crime was recovered in a wooded area between Founders Sports Park and the Green Hill Apartment Complex, which is located in the Eight Mile and Halsted area of Farmington Hills. In the Farmington Hills incident, the victim was inside the exterior entrance to her building when a man attacked her with a club-like weapon and left her with serious injuries. Farmington Hills, Northville Women Seriously Injured in Wednesday Assaults

Farmington Hills Police ask for assistance from anyone who saw suspicious activity around Village Green Apartments, Green Hill Apartments or Founders Sports Park on Wednesday.

Farmington Hills and Northville City Police are investigating two brutal assaults on women that occurred within an 11-hour period on Wednesday. According to a Farmington Hills Police press release, a 42-year-old resident of Village Green Condominium Complex, at Eight Mile and Grand River, suffered serious injuries when she was attacked at around 10:45 p.m., while inside the entrance to her building. Her assailant used a "club-type instrument", according to the release. The woman was treated at the scene by Farmington Hills Fire Dept. medics, then transported to an area hospital.  Farmington Hills Police Commander Matt Koehn said police have not been able to talk with the woman and so have few details about the crime. UPDATED: Farmington Hills Police have identified 52-year-old Steven Schut of Youngstown, OH, as the driver facing aggravated assault and marijuana possession charges, following a road rage incident at a Farmington Hills gas station Saturday. WXYZ-TV obtained a copy of the video surveillance footage that shows Schut assaulting a 34-year-old Farmington Hills woman. The video does not show how the fight began. According to a police report, officers called to the station at 13 Mile and Orchard Lake found a 34-year-old Farmington Hills woman who had been injured. Farmington Hills Man Arrested in Cab Driver Assault, Credit Card Theft at Corner Bar

The man was one of three who refused to pay the taxi driver when he dropped him off, police say.

A 25-year-old man from Farmington Hills was arrested last weekend on charges related to an assault as well as possession of a stolen credit card after a cab driver was beaten up in a Birmingham neighborhood. According to police reports, the cab driver picked up three people — including the suspect — at the Corner Bar in downtown Birmingham around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and drove them to the 1200 block of Bird Avenue. Once there, the three refused to pay the driver, reports state. However, when the cab driver tried to call police, one of the three men knocked the phone out his hand.
